Do excuse me if I’m a bit shy in writing about this, but it’s my first blog about anything of a sexual nature. I am partly writing this as I have observed some changes in my own sexual responses since undertaking the healing work that most of this blog is about. In fact, I may post in “Real Healing” more about the observations of what has changed for me over the course of this work so far.
Orgasm is a major rush of energy throughout the body. I have come to know this as fire chi and it is beneficial because it helps to burn through some of the energetic blockages we may hold within us. I believe this is one of the reasons that tantric sex is so healing, prolonged periods of arousal and love making can really build up that fire energy within us.
Indeed, energy work can lead to greatly enhanced orgasms. I would say that the energy within us now has a much more open pathway to flow through us when the traumas and blockages are worked upon. And as it is the flow of energy that is the enjoyable part of an orgasm, then we will feel it much stronger, when those pathways are clearer.
But I digress, this article is about supplements that I have found beneficial in my sex life. These supplements should increase the hardness of your erection and increase the quantity of pre-ejaculate and semen.
Zinc
We’ll start off with one of the most important. Zinc is vital to the production of testosterone and improves the quality of semen. That’s possibly why oysters are considered an aphrodisiac, they contain zinc. A quality zinc supplement is the easiest way to add this to your diet, unless you really like oysters!
Soya Lecithin
Available as capsules and granules (capsules are definitely easier to take). Lecithin gives the body the essential ingredients to produce semen. Through personal observation I’d say that if you just used one supplement, this would be the most effective for increasing volume of semen. 15-30 minutes before sexual activity seems like the most effective time to take. There’s plenty of articles and science to back this up, I’ll let you google it!
Horny Goat Weed
Anecdotally, it goes that a Chinese goat herder notice that his flock were more “horny” after eating this plant. It has since been a staple in Chinese medicine for a variety of ailments, especially for increasing libido. HGW contains icariin which blocks a protein that is attributed to erectile dysfunction.
Saw Palmetto
The berries of this plant are said to do a few things, balance hormones, reduce inflammation and improve the function of the prostate. You’ll need all of these attributes to ejaculate well. The main reason for including palmetto in this list is its beneficial effect on the prostate which is a gland unique to men which produces most of the fluid that semen is comprised of.
Ashwagandha
This herb works for us in a few ways. It assists in the production of testosterone, the male sexual hormone. It is also anti inflammatory and reduces the stress hormone cortisol. Elevated cortisol levels can really hinder the sex drive so we want to reduce this. Anti inflammatory properties can also boost sexual performance which is a welcome side effect.
Ashwagandha is a noted aphrodisiac, chemically speaking it stimulates production of nitric oxide (the same way in which Viagra does). Nitric oxide causes vasodilation and increases blood flow to the extremities (penis included!). It is likely this will lead to a harder and longer lasting erection.
L-Arginine
This is an amino acid which is used in the production of nitric oxide. Although the chemical symbol for nitric oxide is NO, we want to say YES to it! This is because it dilates blood vessels and encourages blood flow to the genitals. This not only helps the hardness of an erection, increased blood flow means increased oxygenation of the area and better nervous response.
Although I have written this post from a male perspective, I am certain that these supplements will have beneficial effects for women also.
I must also point out that even without these supplements, extended foreplay, good overall health/diet and keeping very well hydrated will almost certainly improve the quantity and quality of ejaculate.
I hope you found this short post interesting, there’s loads more to read and research out there. As always, with new supplements, please do your research, and take the recommended doses, especially if you have physiological conditions. Otherwise, give it a shot, experiment with different groups of supplements and see if any or all will work for you. I promise you’ll have fun trying!
